Burgess – Roger Ian Stuart of Thaxted, Essex died on the 16th March 2019. Widowed since 2006, he leaves his mother, daughter and his two grandchildren, of whom he adored and was extremely proud.
It has just been announced that Debden Branch Royal British Legion (RBL) has been awarded with The Livermore Cup, as the most efficient Branch without a Club in Essex.
Having been elected to the post of Chairman of Essex County Royal British Legion in January 2016, Colonel Roger Burgess, a member of the local Debden Branch RBL, completes his 3 year tenure in post this coming January and will be replaced by Major David Swann.
Following GP 90 this August, James Lloyd, plus close friend John Archer cycled some 80 kilometres in a private pilgrimage tour of the battlefields and several allied cemeteries around Ypres, Belgium.
The County Chairman was particularly pleased to be invited to present two Branch Certificates of Appreciation to the Standard Bearer and Wreath Bearer who represented Debden Branch and Essex County at GP 90 last August.
The Annual Remembrance Service took place at 10.50 am on Armistice Day, Sunday 11th November 2018, at the parish church of St Mary the Virgin & All Saints, Debden, conducted by the Rev Jeremy Collingwood.

The Poppy Appeal commenced in earnest at Carver Barracks in Wimbish with a door-to-door collection around the camp married quarters and nearby Debden Barns by members of the 1st Carver Barracks Scout and Cub Groups.
