The Centre is currently selected to take part in the Co-op Local Community Fund. Once chosen as a Co-op member's local cause, the scheme gives 1% of what they spends on selected Co-op branded products to the Centre.
Recently the volunteers at the Centre were finalists in the Essex County Council “Who will care awards 2019”.
Many thanks to Linda Turner from Wethersfield Flower Club who recently visited the Centre and gave a talk and demonstration on flower arrangements for the home.
Our AGM is to be held at the Centre on Wednesday, 31st July 2019 at 7.30pm. If you, your family, friends or colleagues are interested in the work of the Centre you are most welcome to join us.
The volunteers arranged an Easter Eggstravaganza for the members on 18th April.

After a long search we have now found a replacement for Audrey Carmichael as Manager of the Disabled Centre.
Despite the rain we had a very successful Luncheon Reception at Lower Hall Farm, Dunmow.
Audrey Carmichael, who has run the Thaxted Centre for the Disabled in Dunmow Road for more than 20 years - and who was awarded the MBE for her work - is retiring from her voluntary role at the end of the year and we desperately need someone to manage the centre going forward.

We had a visit on Thursday thanks to the latest addition to the Alpaca herd at Hill Farm, near Great Bardfield - a 3 week old baby Alpaca called Sandy!
On Saturday we held our annual Xmas Sale. We had a Grand Raffle and the main prize was won by one of our members!
We are very pleased to have been chosen by Tesco as one of the local charities to benefit from their Bags of Help Scheme at the Dunmow Store during November and December.

We were all saddened to learn of the passing of Eileen Walsh, a previous Chairman, Trustee and Supporter of the Disabled Centre.
The event was hosted at the Park Inn by Radisson and we had a private dining room which overlooks the Pier.There we enjoyed a 3 course meal and coffee.
