Revolting Rhymes & Marvellous Music! Patterson: Three Little Pigs, Ravel: Mother Goose, Holst: Military Suite No. 2
The centenaries of Roald Dahl’s birth and Holst’s Whitsuntide Festival almost coincide: what a good thing therefore that we start our Family concert with Paul Patterson’s setting of Three Little Pigs!
Roald Dahl had some fun with this story and at the end Miss Riding Hood comes to the rescue of the threatened surviving pig - or maybe not?
We shall then enjoy Ravel’s tuneful tale of Mother Goose and some of the gorgeous folk tunes which Holst drew on when he composed his Military Suites; a special concert for adults and children alike.
The Magnard Ensemble is a wind quintet (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon) plus pianist and Narrator.
The members are all young performers developing their own professional careers, who met at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM).
They are all particularly interested and active in musical education, and are touring this Dahl centenary show around Britain.
