Thaxted Rangers 4 : 0 City Life
Thaxted enjoyed their biggest win of the season at the weekend against City Life.
The home side were a little slow to get going and had a narrow escape when a heavy tackle in the penalty area from Mark Williams was deemed fair by the referee in the early stage.
On 15 minutes Thaxted went in front when good pressure resulted in debutant Jamie Hansen finishing well in the far corner.
Then, within minutes, more good pressing resulted in a goalkeeping clearance ricocheting off of a City Life defender into the net - Thaxted were now in complete control!
This domination continued in second half continued with the home side going further in front following great work down the right from Mark Williams, with Jamie Hansen connecting superbly first time from a right wing cross.
Then Chris Grout got his goal which was richly deserved following his all round team play when he finished at the far post.
It could have been more with Mark Perry, Paul Potter and Charlie Daniels all having good chances to increase the scoreline.
City Life did threaten to pull back a consolation, but the centre half pairing of Andy Macdowell and Lewis Hornsby, both outstanding on the day, held strong.
Possibly, the best performance of the season for Thaxted, who travel to third place Meldreth at the weekend.
