Thaxted Rangers 3 : 0 Gamlingay Utd Reserves

Thaxted secured their first win of the season at home on September 12th with another impressive and solid display.

From the outset, Charlie Daniels and George Withers were causing the Gamlingay defence problems and it was no surprise when Charlie Daniels latched on to a long ball from Ashley King and netted with ease.

Then within a few minutes George Withers doubled the lead with an impressive finish from an acute angle.

Then Charlie Daniels was on the wrong end of a heavy challenge forcing him to go off, as Gamlingay were just working their way back into the game, a change in tactics with Andy Macdowell brought in to strengthen the midfield.

Gamlingay's only real effort of any substance was a long range free kick which was saved well by Dan Latham.

The second half and Thaxted were still very much in control and 15 minutes in, George Withers raced clear of the Gamlingay defence and made no mistake with the finish, 3-0.

The scoring could have been increased, had it not been for some outstanding saves from the Gamlingay keeper, one in particular from a Chris Grout chip.

Thaxted were able to introduce all the subs and remained solid at the back despite some late pressure from the visitors.

An impressive solid display from Thaxted!
