With gale-force winds sweeping across the Finchingfield pitch, this was never going to an easy game for either team. Storm Dennis’s final moments ensured that goal kicks and corners, in fact any ball lofted above shoulder-height, would behave in a decidedly unpredictable manner.

And whilst the Yellows started brightly, as they did in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, Cole finding the net after just ten minutes, the Yellows’ lack of finishing power came back to haunt them in familiar fashion.

Chris, Rory and Zach all had excellent opportunities to score but Cole’s effort remained the only Yellows effort to trouble the scorer today. Other than this fatal flaw, there was little to choose between the sides in terms of general ability and tactical application.

To add an ironic cherry to the cake, Cole was carried from the field of play late in the second half, with what appeared to be a nasty injury.
