Hitchin Town Youth Pumas 5:0 Thaxted Rangers Yellows

Thaxted were brought crashing back down to earth with a bump on Sunday following their first League defeat to Hitchin Town. Rory was unable to convert an early opportunity as the inspired Town keeper thwarted him from 2 yards out.

It was a pattern that emerged throughout the game with a host of speculative long range efforts and delayed shots from the visitors meaning that Thaxted were never able to get a foothold.
 

In stark contrast the hosts were sharp in every department of the pitch and converted their chances with clinical precision. Taking advantage of the slope and wind their first arrived on the 30 minutes mark and second just before half time.

Whilst the Yellows improved after the break and were unfortunate not to be awarded a couple of penalties in truth they were second best throughout against a determined team who grabbed three further goals  on the counter as the Yellows ploughed forward.  

Thaxted have a break next weekend before facing a top of the league encounter at Standon & Puckeridge, where an improved performance will be essential.
