Together In Song
Amici Cantate Concert

Bishop’s Stortford based choir, Amici Cantate, presents an ideal way to leave the Winter blues behind on Saturday 24 March, performing for the first time in the glorious setting of Hertford St. Andrew. ‘Together in Song’ will also be in support of Christian Aid, as part of the Churches Together Lent Events Season.

The uplifting programme is based on how singing and enjoying music together brings joy, emotion and excitement to both singers and audiences. Amici Cantate’s brand of musical diversity has never been better exhibited than in this concert!

The programme spans over 500 years of music with sacred pieces such as Henry Purcell’s haunting ‘Hear My Prayer, O Lord’ and Palestrina’s simple yet rich arrangement of ‘Adoramus Te’ through to Karl Jenkins’ ‘Kyrie’ from ‘The Armed Man’, Ola Gjeilo’s contemporary setting of ‘Ubi Caritas’ and Morten Lauridsen’s lauded ‘O Magnum Mysterium’.

The concert also features different musical styles, ranging from extracts of Faure’s ‘Requiem’, the show tune ‘Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat’ from ‘Guys ‘n’ Dolls’, through to Moses Hogan’s spiritual ‘Wade In The Water’ and lively rhythmical music from Canada. There may even be some audience participation!

The concert will be directed by John Tripp, accompanied by the fabulous Michael Smith (Organ) and Luke De La Salle (Percussion), featuring mezzo-soprano soloist Hannah Tripp.

Over the last five years the choir has raised over £12,000 for the various worthy causes it supports and is delighted to be performing this time in support of Christian Aid, as part of the Churches Together Lent Events Season.

This is going to be a very special evening indeed and well worth the trip to raise the roof of Hertford St. Andrew and raise as much as possible for such a wonderful cause!
