Renowned Bishops Stortford based youth choir, Cantate, will be returning to the glorious setting of All Saints’ Church, Ashdon, on Sunday 25 March, for an uplifting young voices concert entitled ‘Letters to Lindbergh’.

Cantate is widely recognised as one of the outstanding open-access choirs in the UK and accepts all students without audition and regardless of their previous experience or ability. For 24 years it has promoted musical excellence from its base in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire to students aged 6-18 and within a three choir structure challenges its members to perform in a huge range of musical styles to the very highest standards.

It is a previous winner of the Sainsbury’s Children’s Choir of the Year title, and in 2014 returned from the World Choir Games in Latvia as double gold medal winners and as the highest place European mixed-voice youth choir in the competition, an extraordinary achievement when less than 10% have any formal vocal tuition outside of the choir.

For the 25 March concert, Cantate invite you to join their Junior and Training Choirs for a whistle stop journey around the world featuring some of the best music written for young voices and Richard Rodney Bennett’s witty and inventive Letters to Lindbergh - imaginary letters written to Charles Lindbergh on his non-stop flight from New York to Paris in 1927.

The choir is pleased to be making a donation to All Saints’ through this concert and the church will also be running a fundraising raffle on the night.
