Dreams Of Midsummer
Commemorative Choral Concert

Bishop’s Stortford based choir, Amici Cantate, is delighted to be returning to the beautiful church of St. Mary the Virgin in Hatfield Broad Oak on Saturday, September 24th, for a special concert to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

Starting at 7pm, Amici will present a choral concert entitled “Dreams of Midsummer”, featuring beautiful and uplifting choral music including pieces by Vaughan-Williams, Morten Lauridsen, Ola Gjeilo, Frank Loesser and Jeff Lynne, directed by John Tripp and accompanied by Charlie Penn (piano) and Graham Instrall (percussion).

The programme will also include a world premiere of a setting of Shakespeare’s sonnet “Like a Dial Hand” by Ian Assersohn.

As a registered charity, Amici Cantate's members perform in order to raise funds not only for themselves, but also in partnership with other charities and organisations.

In their last season (2015-2016), the choir’s 10th birthday year, Amici was delighted to have been able to raise over £1,500 for one of their partner charities, Grove Cottage - the home of Mencap in Stortford.

Tickets for the “Dreams of Midsummer” concert cost just £12 (adult) and £8 (Under-18’s / Over-60’s) and are available by calling 01279 506773, by email or online via the website, amicicantate.org.uk.

Proceeds will go toward the ongoing development of Amici’s counterpart, the world renowned Cantate Youth Choir.
