The St Clare 10k
2017 Fast Feet Fundraiser

St Clare Hospice is holding its famous 10k race on Sunday, 9 April, a popular annual sporting event that has been a fixture in local running club calendars for over twenty years and last year raised £8,000 for the Hospice - a target which St Clare is hoping to beat this year!

Hundreds of runners are expected to tackle the 10k route on the roads of Hastingwood through the beautiful Essex countryside. Starting and finishing at the Hospice, this event is suitable for all abilities - whether new to running, or a regular club runner looking for a new Personal Best. The course is also suitable for wheelchair athletes.

St Clare Fundraising Development Manager, Jamie Hooper said: "Our 10k race has become a permanent fixture in many of the local running club calendars for well over two decades now - and when you see the beautiful views the runners take in en route it is easy to see why."

"Not only that, but our route along the roads of Hastingwood is UK Athletics affiliated and chip-timed - so it offers the perfect opportunity to get a new PB at the start of the running season."

Jamie continued: "Many of our local running clubs participate in force each year - with big teams from Harlow Running Club, Bishop’s Stortford Running Club and Grange Farm and Dunmow Trotters taking part in 2016. Last year’s winner, Matthew Woodman from the Orion Harriers, completed the race in a very competitive time of 34:53 which we are hoping can be matched this year."

The road race event is open to ages 15 and above and offers trophies in the following categories: male, female, seniors, juniors and wheelchair athletes. Medals will be awarded to all runners.

Advanced registration costs £12 or £15 on the day (£10 or £13 for affiliated runners). The deadline for advanced sign-ups is Monday, 3 April. The registration desk will be open at 9:30am on the day, with the race starting at 10:30am.
