MW Valuations
Independent Jewellery Appraisals

Independent jewellery, watch and gemstone appraisals, operating throughout Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Suffolk.

Is your jewellery properly insured? Are your valuation documents up to date? Most insurance companies recommend jewellery is valued every three to five years because of market fluctuations.

Maybe you have lost a loved one and need to obtain a probate valuation to satisfy HMRC requirements? Why not give MW Valuations a call? Based in Great Dunmow, they pride themselves in giving a highly professional service with a personal touch.

They provide accurate and comprehensive jewellery valuations, including watches, diamonds and gemstones and specialise in valuations for the purpose of insurance, probate, division of assets and private sale.

Principal valuer Mary Waterfall explains: ‘Valuations are often needed at difficult times, when obtaining probate for example, and we want our customers to feel completely at ease with us. We are more than happy to discuss their situation over the phone and determine their requirements.'

‘Our valuations are impartial and strictly confidential and are carried out in the security and comfort of our client’s home, office or business premises. We come along and set up our mobile laboratory. All we need is a work surface, nearby power point and the occasional cup of tea!’

The valuers examine the items, test gemstones, grade diamonds, test un-hallmarked metal, as well as take measurements and calculate stone weights. For more unusual or complicated items further research can be carried out back at their Great Dunmow base.

Once all the information has been collected the items are valued and a full written report is generated, detailing each item and stating its value alongside high quality digital images.

Depending on the number of items the process usually only takes a couple of days, so you get your valutaion quickly and efficiently.

MW Valuations rates are highly competitive and they offer a discounted day rate, perfect for groups of family or friends to have their jewellery valued at the same time.

A number of trade services are also offered for shops, auction houses, legal professionals and insurance companies and all enquires are welcomed.

Mary Waterfall has over fifteen years experience working in a variety of sectors in the jewellery trade including manufacturing, diamond and gemstone dealing, retail and auction.

Aside from her work with MW Valuations she also works as a Consultant Valuer for The Guild Of Valuers and Jewellers and as an off screen valuer for the TV Show Dickinson’s Real Deal.

‘Working on The Real Deal is a fantastic experience. It really keeps me on my toes as you never know what’s going to come through the door, from imitation pearls to 8ct diamonds!!’
