Spirituals To Madrigals
Amici Cantate Summer Picnic Concert

Join Bishop’s Stortford based choir, Amici Cantate, on Saturday 17 June (6pm) for a Summer Picnic Concert in the beautiful setting of St. Margaret’s Church, Toppesfield - a fabulous programme featuring a broad range of music from The Beatles to Finzi, spirituals to madrigals!

Drawing heavily on the musical milestone that is the 50th anniversary of the “Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album, Amici will be performing a Beatles Medley including Day Tripper, A Hard Day’s Night, Can’t Buy Me Love, Eleanor Rigby, Ticket To Ride, Let It Be, Yesterday, The Long And Winding Road, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, All You Need Is Love, Michelle, I Want To Hold Your Hand, and Hey Jude.

As a registered charity Amici Cantate performs in order to raise funds not only for themselves, but also in partnership with other charities and organisations. Proceeds from the Summer Picnic Concert will go towards supporting The Green Man, community-run pub, in not-too-far-away Toppesfield.

Publicity Officer, Alison Thompson, said: ‘We are delighted to be returning to St. Margaret’s where we were given such a lovely welcome on our first visit 3 years ago! It’s such a lovely setting and a great venue to listen to Amici’s latest programme!’

The concert will be directed by John Tripp and accompanied by Charlie Penn (Piano) and Graham Instrall (Percussion) and will include a picnic interval - so don’t forget to pack your basket with goodies to enjoy in the break!

Tickets for the Summer Picnic Concert cost just £10 (adults), £5 (Under-16’s) or £25 for a family (2 adults + 2 children under 16) and are available online, by email or by calling 01279 506773. If you live near Toppesfield, you can also pick them up in person from The Green Man pub and Toppesfield Stores.
