Last week the Star Pub at Mill End, Thaxted, hosted its first Christmas Market.

The idea was the brainchild of Rebecca Huggins who took over the running of the pub with her fiancée, Iain Chinery, in February this year.

Rebecca runs the Bar and front of house whilst Iain, an extremely competent chef, runs the kitchen.

There were some unusual items for sale at the market, which was set up in the pub’s extensive car park. These included flower arrangements and table decorations, along with some interesting wooden Christmas trees, with most of the items being produced locally.

Rebecca, along with her sister and father, literally went the extra mile by travelling to Germany and returning with some authentic European decorations from the Christmas Market in Cologne! The most popular of these turned out to be German Nut Crackers in the form of statues.

The market turned out to be a roaring success and Rebecca and Iain are already planning to organise a larger Christmas Market in Thaxted again in 2018.
