Support 4 Sight
Resource For West Essex

Support 4 Sight, originally named Saffron Sight, was established in 1994 to give support, help and advice to visually impaired people and their carers.

We changed our name in July 2007, when we expanded our geographical boundaries, allowing us to help an even larger number of blind and partially sighted people in West Essex and the surrounding areas.

From our centre in Saffron Walden, we provide information on equipment that can help visually impaired people maintain their independence.

Visitors are always welcome at our centre in George Street in Saffron Walden, Mondays to Fridays (9:30am - 2:30pm), to browse the equipment and try for themselves.

Our display includes such equipment as, lighting, magnifiers, electronic video magnifiers, portable or fixed stand alone, scanners and adaptive computer software as well as a selection of writing aids all to assist with reading, writing and keeping in touch.

A selection of household equipment is available to assist visually impaired people with the day to day routine of everyday life - help with cooking, mobility, medical assistance or even DIY. For those people that like to relax and play games, we also have a range of tactile games and toys for all ages.

CareLine is a dedicated telephone service for Support 4 Sight's members and those with visual impairment in Uttlesford and West Essex. People experiencing sight loss, particularly those recently diagnosed with a visual impairment, can call Support 4 Sight for support and advise on any related issue. The telephone no is 01799 523700 and will be manned weekdays from 9:30 am – 2:30 pm.
