Braintree Hockey Club was formed following the merger of the Braintree and Great Dunmow clubs (originally named Phoenix Hockey Club) it has been changed to Braintree Hockey Club due the location of their pitch, however this club covers both areas and is open to all.
We are running 4 men’s and 3 ladies teams this year and play and train at the Four Releet Sports ground, Church Street in Braintree. During the season Ladies train on Tuesday from 7.30pm and Men train on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
Our junior’s team, Blue Hornets, train at Felsted School on a Sunday and our Flyerz, for people with disabilities, train on a Tuesday 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Four Releet.
Our aim is to encourage all aspects and levels of hockey from the social to the elite, from match to individual skills and from coaching to umpiring skills whilst maintaining a fun, family atmosphere.
We have processes in place to ensure the Safeguarding and protecting of our Juniors and there is a Welfare officer whose details are accessible to any member of the club.

With the latest season now behind we reflect on the success especially the Ladies 3 who won promotion by finishing 2nd and the Men’s Academy side who finished 4th in their league.
Both sides have shown the strength of the Junior training set up at Blue Hornets with a number of young players coming through and with the more experienced players show what is to come.
With Summer upon us much is happening at the club and for those people who would like to try the game again after a break or would like to try it for the first time there is a Back to Hockey course starting on Sunday 15th May, places still available.
