Made It In Chelsea
Bronze Medal For Thaxted Club

The green-fingered ladies from the Thaxted Flower Club have put the petals to the medal once again, bringing home a fantastic Bronze award from this year's Chelsea Flower Show!

Club Chair Sue Freeman, 5-time Chelsea contributor Jane Knight and newcomer Amanda Waples contested the "Pageant" class in the Floral Design Studio.

Inspired by the Show's royal connections, the Thaxted team chose to depict Queen Elizabeth 1's river pageant and created a triumph

of imperial purples, regal reds and glittering golds. A veritable floral feast for any artistic eyes!

Great Sampford resident Amanda said: "Jane introduced me to my first experience of exhibiting at Chelsea, a daunting but exciting challenge! It was certainly not something I had expected to do during the first year of my new business, Amanda Waples’ Flowers, but we are all absolutely elated with our Bronze medal!"

While Amanda and Jane created the floral design, Sue steered the Flower Club ship acting as co-ordinator, driver and (most importantly) food provider.

After months of planning and days (and nights) of fevered construction, the local team wowed the crowds and picked up yet another coveted award to bring back to Uttlesford!
