Festival Of Football
Thaxted Rangers Charity Tournament

For the last five years, Thaxted Rangers Yellows have hosted a pre-season charity football tournament. This year’s ‘Festival of Football’ was held at Rangers’ home ground in Finchingfield, and welcomed Under-15 sides Royston Rangers, Woodham Wanderers and Galleywood Kestrels.

Although strictly friendly, the six matches were played with the teams’ usual competitive spirit, with the boys scoring 20 goals in total between them and at least one win for each of the four teams. The Great British weather added an extra level of unpredictability and occasional comedy to the event by blowing a gale-force wind throughout the morning!

The money raised at this year’s tournament will go to the Ethan Rees Linwood Memorial Fund. Ethan was a Rangers player who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2012, aged just 11.

Yellows coach, Charlie Tritton said: “I’d like to thank everyone involved with another brilliant tournament: our team of helpers who manned the Café Jaune and raffle, the managers, linesmen and referees, the mums and sisters who baked cakes to sell, and all the spectators and families cheering from the touchline.”

A staggering £562 was raised on the day which will presented to the charity!
