Christmas Winners
Council Chairman’s Competition

The winners of the Uttlesford District Council Chairman’s Christmas Card and Poetry Competition have received their prizes.

Every primary school in the district was invited to take part in the competition, which asked for a poem entitled My Christmas Wish and an original card design on any theme related to Christmas. The competition received over 100 entries.

The Christmas card winner was Isobel Wrigley, of St Thomas More School, Saffron Walden. Isobel’s artwork, which was picked out for its vibrant use of colour, will be used as the council’s corporate Christmas card.

The winner of the poetry competition was Charlie Stevens, of Radwinter School. Charlie’s poem was read out by his teacher at the Chairman’s Carol Service earlier this month.

Both winners also received a £15 book voucher.

Cllr Geoffrey Sell, Chairman of the council, said: “I would like to thank everyone who entered the competition. The standard of entries was very high, and my congratulations go to Isobel and Charlie for their excellent card and poem!”
