Public Order
Legion Award For Debden

Just a few weeks after the Royal British Legion recognised the ongoing support received from Parrishes Restaurant and Bar in Thaxted, the Plough Public House in Debden has been accorded the same accolade - Companion of the British Legion!

The popular local watering hole, along with its enthusiastic proprietor Margaret Holland, has received a certificate nominating it as an official "Companion of the British Legion" for its outstanding support of the Debden Branch.

Presenting the award, Essex RBL Vice-Chairman and Debden Branch Chairman Colonel (Retd) Roger Burgess OBE, thanked Margaret for all her efforts in connection with the Branch and, in particular, for hosting her famous Pub Quizzes to help raise much needed funds!

Colonel Burgess, himself a staunch supporter of community life and a prominient figure in his home-town of Thaxted, highlighted the superb relationship the RBL and the forces at Carver Barracks enjoy with local residents.

So next time you're in Debden make sure you stop for a pint at the Plough and give your support to this fantastic community-award-winning establishment!
