A spectacular gold ring around 1,400 years old, found in the Uttlesford District in 2011 by local metal detecting enthusiast Tony Carter, will go on display at the Saffron Walden Museum from Saturday 5th April, thanks to generous public support for the Museum’s recent appeal.

Last week Saffron Screen, Saffron Walden’s community cinema, welcomed it’s 250,000th customer at a screening of the Oscar nominated film, The Wolf of Wall Street. Sophie Fry from Thaxted was presented with free tickets to mark the special occasion.

Uttlesford's resilient residents are healthier, wealthier and longer-lived than elsewhere in the UK. Nothing we didn't already know, but it's nice to have it official!

As part of Saffron Screen’s objective to encourage more young people to see a wider range of films, the local not-for-profit cinema's new incentive to encourage teenagers to see films that may not be within their usual cinema viewing is as sound as a pound. Expect more bums on seats in 2014!

Uttlesford Over-50's are fighting fit having discovered the benefits of a work-out regime tailored specifically for them. The weekly exercise class in Takeley was established following two successful Healthy Eating and Lifestyle Programme (HELP) classes, a fantastic feel-good initiative first introduced in 2006.
