Eighties icons from music, television and the movies are the inspiration for the St Clare Hospice fundraising team's next big event. The Midnight Walk, taking place on June 28th, will be a riot of neon leg-warmers and ra-ra skirts as the fancy dressers go all out for charity!

As a late addition to the current programme, modern art gallery Tate Modern will broadcast live into Saffron Screen on June 7th at 11am with an exclusive tour of the Henry Matisse exhibition "The Cut Outs". The one-off screening is an exciting opportunity to experience an intimate, behind the scenes tour.

Popular eatery Parrishes Restaurant and Wine Bar in Thaxted has just received a special accolade in the form of a Certificate nominating it as a “Companion of the Royal British Legion” in recognition of its unstinting support for Debden Branch over recent years.

Thaxted echoed to the sound of English Anthems as The Chairman of Debden Branch Royal British Legion, Colonel (Retd) Roger Burgess OBE, hosted a St George's Fundraising Garden Party at his home. The event, which proved extremely popular, raised some £500 for the British Legion in Essex.

Comedian Ed Byrne dived into a yellow zorb to draw the winning ticket for the St Clare Hospice Spring Raffle, which raised a record-breaking £32,251. The charity provides specialist care for people with life-limiting illnesses in West Essex and East Herts and costs £2.8m a year to run.
