Thaxted echoed to the sound of English Anthems as The Chairman of Debden Branch Royal British Legion, Colonel (Retd) Roger Burgess OBE, hosted a St George's Fundraising Garden Party at his home. The event, which proved extremely popular, raised some £500 for the British Legion in Essex.

Local Comedian Draws Hospice Raffle

Comedian Ed Byrne dived into a yellow zorb to draw the winning ticket for the St Clare Hospice Spring Raffle, which raised a record-breaking £32,251. The charity provides specialist care for people with life-limiting illnesses in West Essex and East Herts and costs £2.8m a year to run.
